Both Senate campaigns insulting to voters

To the editor:

The senatorial campaign in Massachusetts is a disgusting example of everything that is wrong with the American political process, and both candidates are responsible for it.

Elizabeth Warren and Scott Brown have decided to pour a fortune into the project of insulting the intelligence of voters. Every five minutes on TV we are subjected to Scott Brown crooning in his truck about how he is really just “one of us” and the “same old Scott Brown” (whatever that may be), or Elizabeth Warren delivering one of her annoying and insubstantial lectures. Now she repeatedly informs us ad nauseum that she is (or is not?) an American Indian (I’m not sure what her point is — and who cares?).

Neither addresses anything serious. And worst of all, they seem to believe that we are so stupid that if they hammer their messages into our heads often enough, we will respond like automatons and mark our ballots accordingly.

Actually, the message that comes through most clearly to me is: “God, do I miss Ted Kennedy.”

I have no intention of voting for either one of them, for by their actions in this campaign they have shown nothing but contempt for those they aspire to represent.
