Sen. Brown’s record shows  he’s no friend of women

To the editor:

Scott Brown is airing an ad targeted to women that implies positions completely at odds with his documented voting record. One can only assume that Brown believes the women of the Commonwealth are uninformed nincompoops who have not been paying attention.

Brown joined Republicans in blocking the Paycheck Fairness Act, legislation that supported equal pay for women. He voted with his party for the failed Blunt amendment (which he co-sponsored) to allow any employer to deny women access to birth control coverage. Prior to August 2011, before Elizabeth Warren got into the race, Brown voted 30 out of 32 times in support of Republican obstruction measures.

In recent months, Brown has voted against repealing Big Oil tax subsidies, against the “Buffett Rule” to raise the tax rate for income in excess of $1 million and against extending Bush era tax cuts for the middle class.

Please, Sen. Brown, it’s your record: You can run on it, or run away from it, but lying about it does not go unnoticed. Voters in Massachusetts have a clear choice this fall, and we are smart enough not to be fooled by dishonest advertising.
