Erin Voss set five Northampton High School girls swimming records last season. On Thursday, the junior added to her impressive high school résumé with a national record at the YMCA National Long Course Championships at Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis.

Voss’ 2-minute, 10.58-second time in the 200 backstroke broke the previous mark by almost 5 seconds. Tricia Weaner of Pennsylvania swam a 2:15.39 on July 29, 2004, making the record 10 years, two days old when it was dethroned.

Voss, the reigning Daily Hampshire Gazette girls swimmer of the year, also placed in three other individual races at the YMCA Nationals, taking fourth place in the 200 free (2:04.16), 400 free (4:20.27), and 800 free (9:02.55).

Voss, who competes for the Greater Holyoke YMCA Vikings, swam the opening leg of the 400 medley relay and was followed by Bridget Miller, Julie LeJoie and 2014 Easthampton High School graduate Jessica Harper on the anchor for a 4:24.41, good for sixth place.

Voss owns school records in the 100 fly, 100 back, 200 free, 200 individual medley and 500 free. Her 200 free (1:49.68) and 500 free (4:52.99) times earned All-American status (top 100 nationwide), but her 100 back (56.66) missed the cut by .04 seconds. Her two All-American times came during victories at the MIAA Division 2 state meet.

Harper, who will swim at the University of New Hampshire in the fall, took seventh in the 1,500 free in 17:22.35.
