Whole Children chorus to perform at Newman Center as part of events sponsored by Autism Speaks U
AMHERST — Joyful Noise, the chorus at Whole Children in Hadley, will perform a free concert at the Newman Center, 472 North Pleasant St., Tuesday.
The concert at 5:30 p.m. is part of events by the Autism Speaks U chapter at the University of Massachusetts campus.
In addition to the concert, the Newman Center building will also be lit blue through Sunday, in recognition of autism awareness.
The Autism Speaks chapter has so far raised more than $45,000, with its annual Autism Walk scheduled to start at noon Sunday at Kendrick Park in downtown Amherst, with registration and ceremonies starting at 10:30 a.m.
People can register for the 5K run or a 3K walk for $20 , with prizes to be awarded to the top three male finishers, the top three female finishers, the top individual fundraiser and the top fundraising team.
The event will feature information about autism, carnival activities and a bounce house for children, refreshments and a raffle.
