On Saturday * from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., volunteer pilots will offer free airplane rides to women ages 6 and up in an effort to pique their interest in aeronautics. “Aviation studies have shown the lack of female role models, as well as very little knowledge about historic aviation heroines, as top barriers to women succeeding in aviation-related careers,” said Rich MacIssac, chief flight instructor and manager at the Northampton Airport.

Displays about women in aviation as well as women pilots will be featured during the weekend, along with volunteer pilots from the Northampton area.

For more information on Fly it Forward, contact Holly Lurgio at hollyl@fly7b2.com or Rich MacIssac at 584-7980.
