Wednesday’s college recaps: UMass women’s lacrosse wins home opener 12-6 over Holy Cross
The University of Massachusetts women’s lacrosse team opened its home schedule with 12-6 win over Holy Cross on Wednesday.
An eight-goal first half would have been enough for the victory, but the Minutewomen (3-0) added four goals in the second to extend their lead.
Sam Rush and Katie Ferris (four assists) tallied two goals apiece in the win.
Richmond 89, UMass 76 — The Minutewomen had three scorers in double digits, but couldn’t pull off the win at home.
Jasmine Harris scored a game-high 21 points for UMass.
Kim Pierrie-Louis followed with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Rashida Timbilla added 14 points in the loss.
Springfield College 46, Mount Holyoke 41 — Kate Karraker scored a game-high 17 points to lead the Lyons, while Amber Legare added 10 points in the loss.
