BOSTON (AP) - A Boston-based seafood supplier is recalling fresh tuna steaks distributed in New England because of high levels of histamine, a potentially harmful chemical that can develop naturally in poorly stored fish.
North Coast Seafood said in a statement released late Tuesday it was recalling the fish after three reports of illness.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) - A former Holyoke elementary school teacher who ran off with one of her students has pleaded not guilty to three counts of aggravated rape and abuse and three counts of statutory rape.
Her attorney, David Hoose, said Wednesday that 24-year-old Lisa Lavoie (lah-VOY) was arraigned in Hampden Superior Court on Tuesday. He says the charges were not unexpected.

BOSTON (AP) - Massachusetts must strengthen its investigatory and regulatory laws before going ahead with any plans to expand gambling, Attorney General Martha Coakley said Monday.
The state's chief law enforcement officer said money laundering, wiretapping and criminal conspiracy laws need to be updated to police any additional gambling ventures.

A firm figure on how much stimulus money Massachusetts has received and spent is not available from the state. Massachusetts has allocated about $2 billion of the $4.8 billion available to the state, according to a Gazette calculation based on information provided by the federal government and the state's stimulus tracking Web site, www.mass.gov/recovery.
