Jordan Laguerre leaves UMass men's basketball program

AMHERST - Jordan Laguerre's University of Massachusetts basketball career ended without the guard from New Hampshire ever playing a game.

Sources close to UMass confirmed that Laguerre has left the school for personal, non-basketball reasons. He hasn't asked for his release to transfer to another program.

Stefanie Dufresne and Natalie Caney combined for 10 points as the Belchertown girls lacrosse team held off Holyoke Catholic 11-9 in Chicopee Thursday.The duo each netted hat tricks and Dufresne also had three assists, while Caney had one for the Orioles (5-10, 5-5 Valley).

FOXBOROUGH - Amherst native Josh Hawkins and his Loyola (Md.) men's lacrosse team are anxious to prove themselves on the national stage at this weekend's NCAA Division I Final Four.For Hawkins, one of three team members from Massachusetts, the location is clearly a bonus. Hawkins and his teammates arrived at Gillette Stadium Thursday afternoon to familiarize themselves with the field they'll take Saturday afternoon for the national semifinals.
