SOUTHAMPTON - The police are alerting residents of a mail scam, touting a fictitious lottery sweepstakes prize, which found its way to a number of Southampton mail boxes earlier this week
Police Chief David Silvernail said that a resident that was suspicious of the mailing reported the incident to the police department on Monday.

SOUTHAMPTON - A live bullet found on the sidewalk near the entrance to the William E. Norris Elementary School prompted a full-scale search of the property for a firearm and a police response on Tuesday morning. No firearm was found.
A parent found and reported the bullet to Principal William Collins, who called the Police Department for assistance at around 9 a.m.

SOUTHAMPTON - Industrial Mechanical Insulation Corp., a local contracting company, has been ordered by Attorney General Martha Coakley to pay over $16,000 in restitution and $2,000 in fines for violating the state's wage and hours laws.

Results of the survey will be used to develop a comprehensive Master Plan to guide decision-making in Southampton for the next 10 to 20 years.
