The deal avoids arbitration. Bailey, who made $465,000 last year, asked for $4.7 million; the team offered $3.35 million.

Outfielder Cody Ross agrees to sign with Sox

SAN FRANCISCO - Cody Ross says he has agreed to sign with the Boston Red Sox, giving them an experienced bat to help replace J.D. Drew in right field.
