Move over

Over the years, I've often seen pigeons roosting on top of Barstow's Longview Farm silo on Hockanum Road in Hadley. It's usually packed. On this day, I finally had the time to see what happens when an incoming bird tries to muscle its way into the fold.

I was on the University of Massachusetts Amherst campus when I noticed at least 200 Canada geese on the campus pond. The party was soon interrupted by a few mallards landing on the open water. I like the color pattern on the duck's wings and tail feathers. This image reminds me of a jet landing on an aircraft carrier with its "flaps" down.
