'Housing First' endeavor tackles challenge of reducing homelessness

NORTHAMPTON - At a time when most of us are planning to celebrate our annual Thanksgiving meal with family and friends, an unprecedented number of those less fortunate will be spending the holiday in emergency shelters or hotel rooms.

An Easthampton resident doesn't see need for grocery

I don't think Easthampton needs a big Stop & Shop store. The people running the city did not want the Big Y store here or a Wal-mart store.

Uh, drinking with his dog in his sister's parking lot?

To the editor:

I stumbled upon the following item in the section covering area police news in the Nov. 5 Gazette:

"A Florence Road resident reported Wednesday at 7:30 a.m. that someone had broken into his home overnight, while he was out drinking with his dog in his sister's parking lot, and stole his snow blower, police said."

Correction

NORTHAMPTON - A story Wednesday about rules concerning the hunting and trapping of bobcats gave the incorrect date for a meeting of the Massachusetts Department of Fisheries and Wildlife Board. The board will meet Tuesday, Nov. 24, at 11 a.m. at the department's headquarters in Westborough.

In Our Opinion: Rethinking priorities

The federal budget deals with numbers and subjects so vast and complex it's generally outside the ken of the average person. Moreover, it's hard to put the numbers you read or hear of into any kind of context.

For transplant, stacked shirts must substitute now for wood

One of the things I miss about living in New England is stacking the wood.
