SOUTHAMPTON - Bertha Niedzwiecki, 93, of Lynn Drive in Southampton, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, in the Calvin Coolidge Nursing and Rehab Center in Northampton.

Margaret Pinette, enjoyed painting

AMHERST - Margaret L. Pinette, 64, of North Pleasant Street in Amherst, died Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, at home.

She was born Dec. 3, 1944, in Waterville, Maine, the daughter of Clarence and Louise Sorois Young. She attended schools in Winslow, Maine, moving to Holyoke in 1968, then to Easthampton and Northampton in 1998.

Patricia Samolewicz, longtime school employee

NORTHAMPTON - Patricia (Shepard) Samolewicz, of 793 Ryan Road, passed away Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, at Mass General Hospital in Boston.

Born Oct. 1, 1950, in Northampton, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Kathleen (O'Grady) Shepard. She was educated in Northampton schools and was a 1968 graduate of Northampton High School. She later attended Holyoke Community College.

Victoria Velez, longtime HCC worker

CHICOPEE - Victoria Denise (Arrighi) Velez, of 21 Coolidge Road in Chicopee, passed away after a long fight with cancer.

She was born March 21, 1951, and was raised in Easthampton. She lived in Holyoke and Chicopee. She was lovingly known as Denise to her family and as Vicki to her friends. She was the daughter of John and Lucille (Lapan) Arrighi Sr., both deceased.

Robert Weeks, Lionel trains enthusiast

NORTHAMPTON - Robert J. Weeks, a loving father, brother and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Nov. 12, 2009.

An avid Lionel Train enthusiast, known to everyone as Bob, he was a tireless innovator who always found time to help others in need. His gift for conversation, trademark laughter and compassion quickly turned acquaintances into lasting friendships.
