Berkshire Trail loses heat briefly

CUMMINGTON - There was no heat for part of the day Wednesday at Berkshire Trail Elementary School because of a problem with the fuel tank, according to the school principal.

AMHERST - An amendment designed to relieve some pressure on regional school districts struggling beneath the weight of cuts to state transportation aid passed the state Senate Tuesday night, although questions remained over how those districts would make up for this fiscal year's $18 million cut in transportation funding.

Truck hits pole, causing power line to spark fire

WESTHAMPTON - A man who lost control of his truck and struck a utility pole on Loudville Road early Saturday afternoon was trapped inside his vehicle with his two children for 30 minutes while they waited for the utility company to turn off the electricity to the power lines.

TURKEY SUPPER: The South Deerfield Congregational Church will host a turkey supper Saturday with seatings at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. The menu will include roast turkey, mashed potoates with gravy, stuffing, cranbery sauce, winter squash, rolls beverages and assorted pies. Hilltown CDC sets series of planning meetings

Over the next four weeks, residents of the seven Hilltowns will have a chance to come together for public meetings aimed at setting priorities for community projects, acquiring grant funding to support them and gathering input from local residents.
