GRANBY - Neighbors in the Batchelor Road area are happy and the Select Board is back at square one, now that a Housing Court judge has revoked a special permit allowing a gravel pit operation there.

11-year-old arrested for alleged assault

NORTHAMPTON - Police arrested an 11-year-old West Farms Road boy Thursday after he allegedly threw a bottle at his mother during an argument.

The boy, whose name was not released because of his age, is to face charged in juvenile court of assault and battery and assault with a dangerous weapon.

Gill man arrested after allegedly taking money from Domino's in Hadley

HADLEY - A Gill man allegedly walked into a Domino's Pizza on Route 9, opened the cash register, stole $135 and fled in his car before being arrested by Granby police a short time later Wednesday.

Joseph Fuller, 29, was charged with breaking and entering into a depository, larceny under $250 and trespassing, according to Hadley police.

YOUTH AT UMASS: Amherst children are invited to participate in "Youth for UMass Day" featuring sports clinics and attendance at the University of Massachusetts vs. St. Louis men's basketball game Saturday. The event is open to all children ages 9 to 13, who will be chaperoned by Amherst police officers William Laramee, Yvonne Feliciano and Joshua Harris.

Chief says smoking likely cause of Granby house fire

GRANBY - Careless disposal of smoking materials is the likely cause of the fire that heavily damaged a house at 46 Morgan St. early Saturday morning, according to Granby Fire Chief Russell Anderson.
