Florence Congregational Church recently welcomed two young musicians to help parishioners make some joyful noise. Jonathan Harvey is the new director of music, and will lead the chapel choir, as well as oversee the junior choir, soloists and small groups for special church services.

NORTHAMPTON - Approaching the stage on "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire," contestant Kate Crowther had just one thought running through her mind: Don't fall out of the chair.
Crowther, a 30-year-old Florence woman, will appear on Thursday's episode of the ABC quiz show. A viewing party for Crowther and the Northampton community will be held at Paradise City Tavern at 7:30 p.m.

It has been a stressful year for tenants of Meadowbrook Apartments.
Three buildings were evacuated last month because of problems with gas and electric utilities.
Fire destroyed one of the Bridge Road complex's 29 buildings in April.
And late last year, seven families were forced out by raw sewage that backed up through their toilets and sinks.

NORTHAMPTON - The front door had been sticking lately, so it was lucky for Lori Strolin, her son and their downstairs neighbor that someone came and kicked it open when their house caught on fire Wednesday morning -- a blaze that left the home on Route 9 in Florence uninhabitable.
