GRANBY - A Granby man's truck caught on fire Tuesday afternoon after he attempted to salvage the aging vehicle. No one was injured in the ensuing blaze.

SPRINGFIELD - In the wake of the Dec. 27 arsons that ripped through downtown Northampton - taking lives, destroying homes and vehicles - Northampton had its "finest hours," according to the American Red Cross Pioneer Valley Chapter, which honored the city as well as other "hometown heroes" in a ceremony Thursday morning.

WILLIAMSBURG - Two women and their dog were displaced Wednesday, after power lines brought down by the overnight snowstorm started numerous electrical fires in their home at 7 Petticoat Hill Road.
One of inhabitants was identified as Eileen Stewart, 62, but the identity of the other resident was not available.

WILLIAMSBURG - The overnight storm that dropped more than a foot of heavy snow on the Hilltowns made battling an early morning fire Wednesday at a home at 7 Petticoat Hill Road in Williamsburg especially troublesome for firefighters, whose access to the blaze was blocked by a downed tree.
