To prevent medical conditions, spay female dogs

Here are four medical conditions in female dogs that are preventable through spaying:

 · Pyometra. Also known as performing a spay under duress in an infected female dog. Yes, by the time females get sick (showing fever, weakness, dehydration and having pus coming out of their female parts), it's way too late for a conventional spay.

What should you do if your household includes a cat or two and you are having house guests who don't seem to share your love of felines?

Kathleen Collins & Glenn Maher

Kathleen Graham Collins and Glenn Joseph Maher, both of Lexington, were married Aug. 14 at Brooksby Farm in Peabody. The Rev. David Horst officiated at the 5 p.m. ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Pamela and Read Predmore of Branford, Conn., and Jacqueline Collins of South Deerfield and the late Jack Collins. Maher is the son of Virginia and David Maher of Chelmsford.

Bonnie Lehman & Christopher Gergely

Bonnie Lehman and Christopher Gergely were married Aug. 1 at Stanley Park in Westfield with Pastor Tadd Allman-Morton officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Sue Lehman and Dennis Lacourse of Easthampton and Mark Lehman of Springfield.

The bridegroom is the son of Agnes and George Gergely of West Suffield, Conn.

Colby Campbell & Benjamin Skoglund

Colby Ellen Campbell of Burlington, Vt., and Benjamin Andrew Skoglund of Berlin, N.H., were married Aug. 15 in a double-ring ceremony read by the Rev. Eugene Mockabee at the First Congregational Church in Littleton, N.H.
