Food for Thought Books in Amherst to hold oral history open mic Thursday

Participants are invited to share stories and memories about the collective, which has been in business in Amherst for 37 years.

Collective members have said that changes in the retail market for books, particularly textbooks, have imperiled the store’s continued existence. The collective has been selling memberships and planning fundraisers to avoid closing.

Those attending are urged to either make a donation, buy a membership for $35 — $25 for low-income individuals or $50 for a two-person household —or bring a potential member along.

Light refreshments will be served.
