Alden Credit Union to open new branch in Amherst
AMHERST - Alden Credit Union opens its new branch at 30 Main St. Saturday morning with a celebration from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Adam Corcoran, president and CEO of Alden Credit Union, said he is excited to open the new location.“We look forward to the opportunity to build lasting relationships with people and businesses of Amherst and the surrounding communities,” Corcoran said. The credit union came to Amherst in part because of its sponsorship of University of Massachusetts athletics.
Tony Maroulis, executive director of the Amherst Area Chamber of Commerce, said Alden will be a good addition to downtown.
“We’re delighted to have them as a part of the chamber and welcome them to Amherst,” Maroulis said.
The grand opening will have refreshments and a visit by Sam the Minuteman.
Through the end of June, the credit union will help customers give back to four local nonprofits through a Coins For a Cause program.
Stavros, Soldier On, Amherst Survival Center and Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society will benefit from both new members and new loans, credit cards, checking and savings accounts.
Meanwhile, another change in Amherst occurred with the move of Pioneer Valley Pizza from 10 Belchertown Road to the College Street site formerly home to both Alpha Pizza Pi and Pizzarama. The pizza shop’s owners also are planning to open a sit-down restaurant called Fratelli’s in the basement of the Webster Building.
