For the week ending Oct. 5, the multimillion dollar sale of a retail plaza in Southampton was the highest recorded property transaction in Hampshire County, followed by sales of property in Easthampton and a building in downtown Northampton.

Richard R. Boyle sold Red Rocks Shops plaza at 15 College Highway (Route 10) in Southampton for $2.85 million to Rizos Realty LLC, a limited liability company operated by brothers Efthimios and Antonios Rizos. The plaza is home to a variety of small businesses and a day care center, and is anchored by Red Rock Pizza restaurant, which the Rizos brothers own. The restaurateurs are also co-owners of nearby Opa Opa Steakhouse and Brewery, The Brewmaster’s Tavern in Williamsburg, and the building that houses Mulino’s Trattoria, Sierra Grille and Bishop’s Lounge on Strong Street in downtown Northampton.

The second-highest transaction, for $539,750, involved the sale of property in Easthampton. Cynthia G. and Thomas A. Koziol sold an approximately 3-acre parcel to 1776 Brewing Co. LLC, a company owned by Erik K. Berzins of Bridgewater Corners, Vt. Berzins announced plans last September to use the land to grow hops and start a brewery called Fort Hill Farm and Brewery at the site, which is located off East Street. At the time, he said he planned to buy the property after getting permits from state and federal alcohol authorities.

The third-highest sale occurred in Northampton, where a downtown building that was the longtime home of the now-closed Bakery Normand sold for $525,000. Patricia A. and Robert L. Normand sold the 19th-century building at 190-194 Main St., near City Hall, to Elizabeth A. Dunaway and Jordi Herold of Northampton, co-trustees of the Judith Dunaway Revocable Trust.
