NFL Power Rankings – Week 7

My thoughts to think about:

*Well, the Texans didn’t last long as the #1 team. The Packers offense went wild on them and sent them to their first loss of the season. That leaves Atlanta as the last undefeated team standing and the new #1.

*Arizona and Pittsburgh fall out of the top 10 and are replaced by the returning Green Bay Packers and the Seattle Seahawks, who upset the Patriots with a big 4th quarter comeback win.

*The biggest surprise in Week 6 for me would be the Texans defense giving up 42 points on a career high 6 passing TD’s from Aaron Rodgers. During the 5-0 start, Houston was giving up an average of 14.6 points per game. I don’t expect them to give up 42 points again.

*It was a nice bounce-back week for the Packers. After losing to Indianapolis in Week 5, they get a huge win over Houston and turn their slide around to become the Team on the Rise. They move up 6 spots to #7.

*The Cincinnati Bengals are the new Team on the Slide They started out 3-1 but have now lost back-to-back games to Miami and Cleveland. Not really what you call “the cream of the crop." The Bengals fall 7 spots to #22.

*Pats recap for my many New England readers: all I can say is “What the heck happened in the 4th quarter in Seattle?” Bad coaching decisions…bad plays from Tom Brady…bad pass protection…bad defense. Just like that, a 23-10 lead turns into a 24-23 loss. In Week 7, I think the Jets may suffer the consequences for this loss.

*Hey, Miami won again! The entire AFC East is 3-3 right now. Who would have guessed that? Things just got interesting!

*Week 6 Survivor recap – I took Atlanta in what I thought might have been a trap game against Oakland. I wasn’t necessarily wrong, as they needed overtime to win it. Jim took the Cardinals who lost in overtime to Buffalo. I think Jim officially hates the Survivor Pool (Editor's note: Yes. Yes he does).

*Week 7 Survivor pick – Hold your breath, everyone! I’m taking the Pats at home over the Jets!
