NFL Power Rankings – Week 6

Before we get to the rankings, here are my thoughts to think about for this week:

*The Jets made their game against Houston seem closer than it really was, thanks to a 100-yard kickoff return, but they never really had a chance of winning. The Texans remain at #1 and now we’ll see how they fare against the likes of Green Bay and Baltimore over the next 2 weeks.
*Green Bay and Philadelphia drop out of the top 10 and are replaced by Minnesota and Pittsburgh. The Vikings sure have come a long way after that horrible 2011 season.
*The biggest surprise in Week 5 for me, like everyone else, was Indianapolis knocking off Green Bay. The Packers record now sits at 2-3 and they are 3rd in their division behind Chicago and Minnesota. Oh, and the Colts also have a better record than they do. Ouch!
*…and with that big win, the Indianapolis Colts are the Team on the Rise. They jump up 8 spots from 31 to 23.
*Not so coincidentally, the Green Bay Packers are the Team on the Slide. With that ugly 2-3 record, they fall 7 spots to #13.
*For all of you Pats fans, the long-awaited rematch of Brady vs. Manning didn’t disappoint. Manning had the better passing stats, but that’s because the Patriots actually ran all over the Broncos for a combined 251 yards en route to an easy 31-21 victory.
*Finally, my Dolphins didn’t blow a lead and/or get beat in overtime. They pulled out the upset over the Bengals and their defense is looking pretty darn good. Time to work on that offense!
*Week 5 Survivor recap – Good thing we started over because I would have taken Green Bay over Indy. Instead, I took the Giants and Jim took the 49ers. Both won.
*Week 6 Survivor pick – I’m taking the Falcons at home against the Raiders. Feels like a trap, but I’m doing it anyway because at least they are playing at home.
