UMass softball loses; Season likely over

In the resumption of last night's rain suspended, Saint Joseph's scored four time in the top of the ninth and beat UMass, 6-2.

The loss likely ends the season for the Minutewomen, whose RPI was 60 heading into the tournament. They'd need a lot of favor from the selection committee to get into the tournament. But more likely their season is over.

UMass will return several key players next year, most notably, pitcher Sara Plourde.
