FCS Poll Mystery solved: UMass did receive votes
Tuesday, August 23, 2011
The answer to why UMass didn't have any votes in the FCS Coaches Poll that was released yesterday was simple human error. UMass did receive votes, but the Minutemen were accidentally left out of the also receiving votes when the Southern Conference released it.
The Minutemen got 73 points, which put them first in the also receiving votes, 11 points out of 25th. Teams get 25 points for a No. 1 vote and one point for a No. 25 vote.
Thanks to the CAA's Scott Meyer for tracking it down.
