We'll have more on the story later tonight.

Somehow, last week's complete list didn't get through the system and I didn't realize it until right now. So here are last week's updates and this week's:
WEEK 8 — THURSDAY, OCT. 22
Sean Gaudette (Hopkins Academy golfer)
We plan to take the momentum from our league championship victory over Smith into the Western Mass. Tournament, this coming Monday at Greenfield CC. Anything can happen when it gets to tournament time, especially in a sport like golf.
Steph Slysz (Smith Academy field hockey)
The annual Homecoming Alumni game that the field hockey team played was really fun this year. It’s when current varsity members play against former SA players. We lost to the alums 3-1, only because we didn’t have a goalie. They all have been coached by Ms. Webb. There were graduates from the early 80’s up until a couple of years ago. It was a great time.
Paul Norton (Brandeis cross country/Amherst Regional grad)
I enjoyed a relaxing weekend at home, but now it’s crunch time with two midterms this week, a midterm paper next week, and the championship season right around the corner. It’s hectic but this is what college is about!
Molly Brooks (Northampton field hockey)
Our team is so close to clinching Western Mass we can taste it. We’ve got 4 games left but were willing to give it our all.
Nicholas Rouzier (Villanova soccer/Amherst Regional grad)
2 wins past 2 games. 4-2 vs DePaul. 1-0 vs Columbia. Played in both games at center mid. Away at South Florida on Saturday night. School still extremely tough, harder than ever. Class averages have been low. Test in Structures Analysis on 10/21. I do enjoy this class and actually understand the material.
Jamey Mercer (South Hadley boys soccer)
Last Friday night at hampshire regional my “indestructible” knee brace that protects the rest of my partially torn ACL broke. I had to sit the last 6 minuets of the game as we finished in a 0-0 tie. I also had to sit out Mondays game against Southwick. Luckily we won handily, 4-1. My replacement brace came in Wednesday afternoon, just in time for our game at comp thursday night. Hopefully this one holds up.

WEEK 9 — FRIDAY, OCT. 30
Leah Haake (Amherst Regional cross country)
My team may be running a 5k on Halloween, in costumes! But the best part will be that the course is challenging in a very different way-there are hay barrels and other obstacles along the way. Should be fun!
Steph Slysz (Smith Academy field hockey)
Our last games were this week. Our Senior Day game was sad and fun and happy all at the same time. Balloons and flowers were gifted to the six of us before the game. It’s weird to think that I’ll never play on my home field again. (Unless I come back for the alumni game…yay! ) This season has gone by way too fast. I’m ready for tournament!
Abby Majewski (Providence volleyball/Frontier grad)
Suffered a tough loss at URI on Tuesday.. putting in a good week of practices to prepare for our last game on Nov. 11th! I can’t believe the end is almost here!
Paul Norton (Brandeis cross country/Amherst Regional grad)
Championships are on the horizon! The UAA Championships are this weekend, and then regionals and nationals are soon to follow. This is where the speculation ends and the real results begin, and I can’t wait!
Nicholas Rouzier (Villanova soccer/Amherst Regional grad)
Last game lost to USF at USF 3-1. Up 1-0 at half, but only had 10 men in the second half and then concedded 3 goals. School is going fine, still have a ton of work. Play Rutgers on 10/28 and Louisville on 10/31. Big East playoffs start next week.
Danielle Parenteau (MCLA soccer/Hampshire Regional grad)
huge game tomorrow! if we win, we take first place in the conference- for the first time in school history. We already clenched a play-off spot- also something that doesnt happen often at MCLA. it’s been an exciting season!
