FINAL Boys Hoop Walkertology

Here are my final projected Walker Standings. In the case of a tie, I went with the team which had the higher ranking in the third category. Projected matchups follow the seeds. I could be way off with the matchups in Division 3. It all depends on what the committee does with the Tri-County teams. For this, I gave Dean Tech a home game with the eighth seed and dropped the remaining TCL teams at the end.

The numbers after the records represent overall record-strength of schedule-record vs. tournament teams

Boys Hoop Playoff Picture

*Updated Wednesday night with a correction. Monument is still alive.

Records include Tuesday’s results except for Drury-Mt. Greylock.

DIVISION 1
In:
East Longmeadow (14-1), Northampton (13-4), Central (10-6), West Springfield (11-4)
Looking good: Westfield (9-6), Holyoke (8-7), Putnam (9-7),  Chicopee Comp (8-7), Sci-Tech (7-8)
Needs work: Chicopee (7-8), Minnechaug (6-9), Amherst (6-8)
Out: Cathedral (4-11), Commerce (4-12), Longmeadow (4-12), Agawam (5-11), Ludlow (1-15), Pittsfield (3-11)
Outlook: This division has certainly undergone some changes in the past week or two. Chicopee went from looking good to needing work. The Pacers have dropped four straight and need three wins in their final five. Putnam has won four straight while Holyoke has won three of four. As for the teams who are listed as out, they can’t get 10 wins but mathematically I guess its possible to get second place in the league. However, East Longmeadow and Hamp are finishing atop the Suburban, likewise with Sabis and NLCS in the Central. Cathedral and Commerce are unlikely to finish among the top two in the Valley League.

DIVISION 2
In:
Sabis (14-2), Easthampton (14-2), Hampshire (14-1), Hoosac (14-2), Drury (12-3), Taconic (11-4), Mahar (12-3), Palmer (10-5), Belchertown (11-5)
Needs work: Wahconah (7-9), Greenfield (6-10), Southwick (6-10), South Hadley (4-10), Monument (5-11)
Out: Athol (4-12)
Outlook: Almost done here. South Hadley needs to win its final three non-Division 1 games (Sabis, NLCS and Pathfinder). Greenfield and Southwick need to win out. Greenfield is 2-2 against its final four. Southwick is 1-3. Wahconah needs three wins out of Drury, Taconic, Greylock and Pittsfield. Monument is a game out of second place in the league. It could happen.

DIVISION 3
In:
New Leadership (13-2), St. Joseph (12-4) Dean Tech (13-2), Lenox (11-5), Holyoke Catholic (10-6), Pioneer Regional (10-5)
Looking good: Renaissance (8-7), Frontier (8-6), McCann Tech (8-8),
Needs work: Franklin (7-6), Westfield Voke (7-6) Hopkins Academy (7-8), Lee (7-9), Mt. Greylock (7-8), Turners Falls (7-9), Gateway (6-9), Smith Academy (6-9), Ware (6-9), Monson (6-11), Granby (5-10), Pathfinder (3-9)
Out: Mohawk (2-13), Mt. Everett (4-12), St. Mary (3-12), Smith Vocational (1-12), Pioneer Christian (1-16)
Outlook: This division will drive you nuts. Six teams have seven wins. Four teams have six wins. An 11-loss team is in second place in its league. Everyone has a chance but not all will get in.

Boys Hoop Postseason Snapshot

Should the season end right now, here are how the seeds might look for Division 2, which currently has eight teams. This is based off the Walker, which is used to seed the teams by the tournament committee. This is not official. As more teams qualify I will figure out D1 and D3. Only four teams have qualified for both D1 and D3.

By the way, Friday will be one jam-packed evening of boys basketball. Every team except three will be playing.

But first ....
As promissed, if the season ended and the tournament started today, here are how the seeds would fall. This is NOT official but calculated. All three divisions will change when more teams qualify.
