Mike’s Top 10
Week 6 (record, last week)

1. Longmeadow (4-2, 1) - Looking better and better each week.
2. East Longmeadow (5-0, 2) - Westfield gave Spartans a scare.
3. Chicopee (4-1, 3) - Pacers stomped South Hadley.
4. Hoosac Valley - (5-0, 4) - Hurricanes blowing through everyone.
5. Chicopee Comp - (5-0, 5) - Perfect record on the line this week with West Side.
6. Wahconah (5-1, 8) - Clearly No. 2 in Berkshire County right now.
7. Mahar (5-0, 9) - Senators not holding anything back. Huge matchup with Sci-Tech Friday.
8. Athol (6-0, n/r) - Beating then undefeated Sci-Tech in OT was impressive.
9. Drury (5-1, n/r) - A two-point loss to Athol standing in the way of a perfect record for the Blue Devils, who host Wahconah on Halloween.
10. Agawam (4-2, n/r) - Brownies playing well.

Jim’s Top 10
1. Longmeadow (4-2, 1) - TJ Norris is the next big thing in western Mass.
2. East Longmeadow (5-0, 2) - EL slipped up against the Bombers, but still pulled out the win.
3. Chicopee (5-1, 5) - Raheem Kelly-Reid is a dynamic running back.

And here are our individual votes:

Mike’s Top 10s
Week 5 (Record, last week)

1. Longmeadow (3-2, 1) — Still the best team in WESTERN massachusetts.
2. East Longmeadow (4-0, 2) — Spartans are closing fast on their neighbors.
3. Chicopee (4-1, 5) — Huge matchup with South Hadley this week.
4. Hoosac Valley (5-0, 7) — Hurricanes last unbeaten Berkshire County team.
5. Chicopee Comp (4-0, 8) — Colts’ D allowing less than 7 ppg.
6. South Hadley (3-2, 4) — Tough setback against Cathedral but Tigers need to regroup with Pacers visiting Friday.
7. Central (3-2, 3) — Did the Golden Eagles look past Agawam last Friday with Longmeadow this week?
8. Wahconah (4-1, 6) — Loss to Hoosac no big deal. These two should meet in the Berkshire title game anyway.
9. Mahar (4-0, 9) — Senators should get past Belchertown this Friday. Unbeaten Sci-Tech looms next week.
10. Cathedral (4-1, n/a) — Panthers score big win over South Hadley, and in the process jump into top 10. A good showing this week against West Side should prove last Friday was no fluke.

Jim's Top 10s
1. Longmeadow (3-2, 1)
2. East Longmeadow (4-0, 2)
3. Chicopee Comp (4-0, 4)
4. Hoosac Valley (5-0, 7)
5. Chicopee (4-1, 6)
6. South Hadley (3-2, 3)
7. Cathedral (4-1, NR)
8. Central (3-2, 5)
9. Mahar (4-0, 9)
10. Wahconah (3-1, 8)

I can't believe some the votes in the media poll. Wow. I wish everyone's individual votes were posted somewhere. Again, wow. Here it is.

Week 4 (Record, last week)

Mike's Top 10
1. Longmeadow (3-1, 1) — Lancers keep getting better.
2. East Longmeadow (3-0, 2) — Spartans are on a roll. Can we just skip the rest of the games and get to the Turkey day matchup?
3. Central (3-1, 3) — Golden Eagles looked good against Westfield.
4. South Hadley (3-1, 4) — Tigers pulled one out without their top back.
5. Chicopee (3-1, 6) — Pacers drilled Commerce.
6. Wahconah (4-0, 5) — Big game this week with the Hurricanes.
7. Hoosac Valley (4-0, 7) — Big game this week with the Warriors.
8. Chicopee Comp (3-0, 8) — Colts stood bye and watched everyone last week.
9. Mahar (4-0, n/r) — Impressive win over Frontier moves the Senators into the top 10.

1. Longmeadow (3-1, 1) - Pounded Northampton on Friday night.
2. East Longmeadow (3-0, 2) - Looking more unstoppable each week. Will feast on Commerce on Friday.

8. Wahconah (3-0, 9) - Probably first of two games vs. Hoosac this season this week.

10. Athol (4-0, NR) - Debated here with Cathedral and Sci-Tech.

Jim's Top 10
Note: A bit of movement here, as I felt that I had Central and Chicopee too low last week. The 10th spot is the toughest right now and I kept West Side in for one more week because no one else jumped out at me, especially considering their strength of schedule.
1. Longmeadow (2-1)
2. East Longmeadow (2-0)
3. South Hadley (2-1)
4. Chicopee Comp (3-0)
5. Central (2-1)
6. Chicopee (2-1)
7. Hoosac Valley (3-0)
8. Agawam (2-1)
9. Wahconah (3-0)
10. West Springfield (1-2)

And here's the link to the Western Mass. Media Poll, which is being compiled by Kyle Belanger over at Masslive.com. It includes a good mix of media from around western Mass: Kyle Belanger (Varsity Voice), Erik Gallant (MassLive.com), Russ Held (The Republican), Mark Durant (The Recorder), Jim Pignatiello (The Daily Hampshire Gazette), Mike Moran (The Daily Hampshire Gazette), Howard Herman (The Berkshire Eagle), Ben Larsen (CoachesAid.com), Ryan Walsh (WWLP, TV 22).

Mike's Top 10 Football Poll

Look for Jim's Top 10 later today.
(On a side note, I really had trouble sorting out 5, 6, and 7. The three teams could go in any order.)

Week 3 (Record, last week)
1. Longmeadow (2-1, 1) — Came back to beat South Hadley. Lancers never forgot how to win after all.

2. East Longmeadow (2-0, 2) — Very impressive on both sides of the ball vs. Northampton.

3. Central (2-1, 3) — Rolled it up against a Ludlow team which allows nearly 50 points per game.

4. South Hadley (2-1, 4) — Can’t knock a team which had Longmeadow on the ropes.

5. Chicopee (2-1, 6) — Impressive nearly two TD win over West Side.

6. Wahconah (3-0, 5) — Warriors’ offense final got going in 24-0 win over Monument. Showdown with Hoosac on Oct. 9.

7. Hoosac Valley (3-0, 7) — Has outscored their opponents 103-6. Showdown with Wahconah on Oct. 9.

8. Chicopee Comp (3-0, 8) — Three wins by six or less or points.

9. Agawam (2-1, 10) — Brownies yet to play one close.

10. Frontier Regional (3-0, n/r) — Are the Red Hawks the best of the remaining unbeaten? They face Mahar Friday.

Dropped out but still in the picture

West Springfield (1-2, 9) — Terriers have now woken up on both sides of the bed this season.

Knocking on the door: Athol (3-0), Cathedral (2-1), Mahar (2-0). Sci-Tech (2-0), Ware (3-0)
