Kathleen Mellen’s Best Bets
ALL ABOUT FOOD
Sarah Platanitis’ “Women & Food Project,” sounds like fun. The interactive exhibit of photographs and stories about 12 local women involved with food is on view through Sept. 30 at the ECA+ Gallery in Easthampton’s Old Town Hall. But there’s more: Viewers are invited to write down their food stories — on recipe cards — and smartphone users can immediately access more about each woman, including video and audio recordings, by scanning QR codes that accompany the photos. For those whose phones aren’t smart enough, the stories are accessible via Platanitis’ website, www.womenandfoodproject.com. The opening reception is Sept. 14 from 5 to 8 p.m.
ANOTHER GOOD BET
e_SDLqA Prize Every Time!,” another fun-sounding, interactive exhibit, this one by Amy Johnquest, Sally Curcio and Anne LaPrade Seuthe, opens with a reception Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the A.P.E. Gallery, 126 Main St., Northampton. Some attendees will win prizes. www.apearts.org.
