Suzanne Wilson’s Best Bets
‘ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK’
I enjoyed and admired Piper Kerman’s well-written and thought-provoking memoir, “Orange Is The New Black: My Year in a Women’s Prison,” the story of the 15 months she served for her part in a drug- money laundering operation she got involved in after graduating from Smith College. Now Netflix has made Kerman’s story into a 13-episode series that will be released on the Web July 11, and a second season is already in the works. I’m curious to see if the producers have done justice to Kerman’s portrayal of life inside the barbed wire and the inmates she met there.
ANOTHER GOOD BET
It’s all happening in Worthington this weekend — the Hilltown Arts Festival takes place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at locations around the center of town. A juried art show, music, children’s activities, a silent auction and open houses will all be part of the mix.
