BLACK AND WHITE
Charles Miller of Northampton is part of two worlds — art and music. He’s a painter and a jazz musician and his experiences of each informs the other. Eight of his paintings of jazz musicians are showcased in an exhibit that opens Sunday at the Anchor House of Artists, 518 Pleasant St., Northampton. Miller says he loves the “freedom and speed” of working in black and white: “I wanted the paintings to be free of all unnecessary details, just about them and me and the music, no background, no props.” Sunday reception, 2-4 p.m., with Eliot Cardinaux Combo. Through July 30. 588-4337
