MUSICAL MYSTERY

A Greek, a Macedonian, a Turk and a Serb all say they wrote the same piece of music. How could that be? On Wednesday, Amherst Cinema shows “Whose Is This Song?” a film that searches for the true origins of the melody. Preceded by live Gypsy jazz, performed by Tcha Limberger and Sergiu Popa, artists-in-residence at next week’s “Django in June” in Northampton. Music starts at 7:30; film follows. www.amherstcinema.org.

ANOTHER GOOD BET

There’s a new place in town to view art: Imagine/Northampton at 70 Main St. Check it out today from 5 to 8 p.m. at a reception for “Passing Through,” paintings of landscapes and trains by Easthampton artist Catherine Gibbs. On view through July 6. 585-5830
