Photo Gallery: Branching out

I came across this odd scene while driving home from an assignment in Greenfield on Thursday, March 21, 2013. Peter Merriam of Hilltown Tree and Garden LLC was cutting samples from an American Elm to test them for Dutch Elm Disease resistance. Framed by the tree branches, his figure blended into the scene so naturally. It seemed to illustrate, quite literally and also figuratively, our attachment to the world around us.

I came across this odd scene while driving home from an assignment in Greenfield. Peter Merriam, of Hilltown Tree and Garden in Chesterfield, was cutting samples from an American elm to test them for resistance to Dutch elm disease. Framed by the branches, his figure blended in so naturally that the scene seemed to illustrate, literally and figuratively, our attachment to the world around us.
