GOING FOR BAROQUE
The enchantress Armida is a popular character in the Baroque repertory, with more than 30 operas featuring her. Well, now there’s more than 31. “The Armida Project” will be performed Saturday at 8 p.m. at the Academy of Music in Northampton. Russian director Igor Konyukhov leads an international cast through this operatic pastiche that fuses Baroque and electronic music, as well as a story of fate, love and rejection with some pretty broad humor. 584-9032, ext 105
ANOTHER GOOD BET
Kids from the Youth Action Coalition have put together an art exhibit dedicated to “the shoe.” One of the pieces is large enough to walk inside. Reception is Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m., Freedom Trails Gallery, Amherst.
