The following author appearances, readings and book events are planned for the coming week in the Valley:

AMHERST BOOKS: Brad Leithauser will read from his most recent volume of poetry, “The Oldest Word for Dawn: New & Selected Poems,” today, 7 p.m. at the bookshop, at 8 Main St., Amherst. 256-1547

∎ Poet Michael Tyrell reads Tuesday at 8 p.m.

MOUNT HOLYOKE COLLEGE: Lilly Ledbetter, author of “Grace and Grit: My Fight for Equal Pay and Fairness at Goodyear and Beyond,” reads Tuesday, 7 p.m., Chapin Auditorium, Mary Woolley Hall, at the college in South Hadley. 538-2000.

ODYSSEY BOOKSHOP: Samantha Wilde reads from her new novel, “I’ll Take What She Has,” Wednesday, 7 p.m., at the bookstore, located in the Village Commons, 9 College St., South Hadley. 534-7307.

SMITH COLLEGE: Poet Jean Valentine reads Tuesday, 7:30 p.m., Stoddard Auditorium, at the college, in Northampton.

SOUTH DEERFIELD CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH: Deerfield author Natasha Lowe will talk about “The Power of Poppy Pendle,” a novel for middle-graders, Wednesday at 7:15 at the South Deerfield Women’s Club at the church, North Main St., South Deerfield. 665-3921
