Suzanne Wilson’s Best Bets
READINGS BY WRITERS
A reading by four — count ’em, four — local writers deserves its billing as a celebration. The event features Zane Kotker, author of “White Rising,” Joann Kobin, who wrote “Woman Made of Sand,” Roger King, author of “Love and Fatigue in America,” and Corinne Demas, author of “The Writing Circle.” It’s Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Forbes Library, Northampton. 587-1011, forbeslibrary.org
ANOTHER GOOD BET
The second of a facilitated, three-part discussion series about issues raised by “Silent Spring,” Rachel Carson’s groundbreaking book about threats to the environment, takes place Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Greenfield Public Library; the third will be Feb. 16 at 1 p.m., at the Jones Library in Amherst. Fifty years after Carson sounded the alarm, her work remains relevant.
