LOSS AND RESILIENCE
Having taken several backpacking trips in the U.S. West, I was intrigued to hear about “Wild,” Cheryl Strayed’s best-selling memoir of her hike along the Pacific Crest Trail as a younger woman trying to come to terms with profound grief. I didn’t get the book right away, but Santa Claus brought me a copy, and it’s been worth the wait. “Wild” is a great adventure story, a serious look at loss and resilience, and a funny, no-holds-barred portrait of the author.
