Valley Readings

The following author appearances, readings and book events are planned for the coming week in the Valley:

ODYSSEY BOOKSHOP: George Howe Colt reads from his memoir “Brothers: On His Brothers and Brothers in History,” Tuesday at 7 p.m., at the bookshop, at the Village Commons, 9 College St., South Hadley. Requires book purchase or $5 event ticket. 534-7307.

RENAISSANCE CENTER : Alison Brown, author of “The Renaissance” and “The Return of Lucretius to Renaissance Florence” will speak Tuesday at 4 p.m. at the Massachusetts Center for Renaissance Studies, 650 East Pleasant St., Amherst. 577-3600, www.umass.edu/renaissance.

SMITH COLLEGE: Daniel Goleman, author of “Emotional Intelligence,” will speak on “The Brain and Emotional Intelligence: New Insights,” on Thursday at 5 p.m., in Wright Hall Auditorium, at the college in Northampton. 585-ARTS.
