BIG EXHIBIT

Early October in Northampton means it’s time for the Paradise City Arts Festival, which comes to the Three County Fairgrounds this Saturday through Monday. The area’s biggest arts exhibit features the work of 250 regional and national artists — sculptors, painters, photographers, jewelry makers and others. New this fall, watch glassmaker Philip Jacobs turn hot glass into table lamps, sconces, vases — even pumpkins. www.paradisecityarts.com.

ANOTHER GOOD BET

“Star Trek” fans can get an inside look at the famous TV and film series from someone very close to its creator: Eugene “Rod” Roddenberry, the son of “Star Trek” producer Gene Roddenberry. The younger Roddenberry, head of a science fiction entertainment company, will screen his film “Trek Nation” in Franklin-Patterson Hall at Hampshire College in Amherst. Thursday, 7 p.m. Free.
