“If you’ll be my Dixie Chicken, I’ll be your Tennessee lamb ...” If you remember those words you know Bill Payne. In addition to his role as the piano and keyboard player for Little Feat, Payne has worked with the likes of Bob Dylan, Jimmy Buffett, Jackson Browne, Linda Ronstadt, Stevie Nicks and the Doobie Brothers. On Wednesday at 7 p.m., Payne brings his solo show, “Tracing Footsteps,” to Northampton’s Iron Horse, along with a few stories about his life as a musician and photographer. ANOTHER GOOD BET
For his Q&A with the audience, Bill Payne will be joined by Dennis McNally, author of “A Long Strange Trip: The Inside History of the Grateful Dead,” published in 2003. McNally, the longtime publicist for the band who earned his doctorate in history at UMass Amherst, will offer a few stories of his own about his many years with the Dead.
