Valley Bounty: Maple Syrup

It’s easy to love maple syrup: it’s sweet and delicious and its history in our region goes back long before European settlement. Sugaring also brings income to farms in the off-season and provides farmers with a reason to manage and maintain their woodlots. Maple syrup is available year round, but now is the time to watch it being made. A visit to a sugar shack offers sweet smells (and tastes!), good food and a reminder that some things can only be experienced in the right place at the right time.
