Have you ever found yourself in a situation thinking, “Oh ... no ... no ... no, this is just not working”? In fact, the School of Life teaches us a lot about failing. So, thought Smith College School of Social Work student Elise Pepple, “Why not have an event in which we take ourselves less seriously and enjoy our failures?”
The result is “Epic Fail,” a storytelling session in which a group of courageous people will gather to share true personal accounts of spectacular flunk-outs — in a job, a relationship, a project, a best-laid plan or whatever.
“Failure is open to interpretation,” says Pepple: “It can be funny, sad, serious, mysterious, you-name-it. How did you fall down (was it in slow motion)? How did you get up (did you skip)? And did you find new ground?”
Saturday, 8 p.m. at The Basement, 21 Center St. in Northampton. No charge. A few spots for storytellers reportedly still remain. Contact Pepple at firstname.lastname@example.org.
