Weekend Planner — Theater
A black comedy by French playwright Yasmina Reza, “God of Carnage” concerns two married couples who meet to discuss a playground scuttle between their sons, and gradually degenerate into children themselves. Following a successful run in Paris, it’s been translated into many languages and received with equal acclaim in productions in London, New York, Madrid, Dublin, Ottawa, San Juan, Bucharest and Belgrade, which says something about the universality of its theme and probably about the Decline of the West in general.
Final performances of New Century Theatre’s production are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. in Smith College’s Theatre 14. $30 general; $28 seniors. Same-day student rush tickets are $15 at the door. 585-3220, newcenturytheatre.org (Jon Crispin photo)
