Weekend Planner: Theater
A stage show presented annually by the Women of Color Leadership Network at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, “Body Politics” explores issues relevant to contemporary women of color, including intersections of social identities, cultural appropriation, racism, violence, sexuality, self-esteem and manifestations of internalized oppression, along with feelings about more everyday corporeal matters, such as body image, hair texture and skin color. Directed by Beverly Eugene and Tiffany Joseph, this weekend’s production, “Body Politics 2013,” marks the 10th anniversary of the event and will feature a documentary film on the history of the project.
Performances are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. in the UMass Campus Center Auditorium. The show is free (donations welcome) and all are welcome. 545-1671 or 545-0883
