Kathleen Mellen’s Best Bets

Can you imagine being a Young@Heart groupie? You’d have to be footloose and fancy-free to traipse after the chorus which tours the globe playing to sold-out houses in places like Amsterdam and Oslo. The 70-plus-year-old rock stars have alighted, briefly, in Northampton and will perform Saturday at 8 p.m. at the Academy of Music in a show that benefits the Northampton Survival Center. $15. 584-9032, ext. 105

When a woman dies, her “bagels and schmeaaah” mother discovers she wasn’t a practicing Jew. That’s the premise of “The God Box,” a funny, poignant one-woman play about faith that will be performed Monday at 7 p.m. at Congregation B’nai Israel in Northampton. $10 at the door. RSVP to 584-3593. (Organizers want to be sure they have enough cheesecake on hand for everyone.)
