12 YEARS A SLAVE: Based on a true story, in the antebellum United States, Solomon Northup (Chiwetel Ejiofor), a free black man from upstate New York, is abducted and sold into slavery. Also stars Michael K. Williams, Michael Fassbender, Brad Pitt. Rated R.

CAMILLE CLAUDEL 15: Winter, 1915. Artist Camille Claudel (Juliette Binoche) has been confined by her family to an asylum in the South of France where she lives a reclusive life while waiting for a visit from her brother (Jean-Luc Vincent). Also stars Emmanuel Kauffman. Not rated.

CAPTAIN PHILLIPS: The true story of Captain Richard Phillips (Tom Hanks) and the 2009 hijacking by Somali pirates of the Maersk Alabama, the first American cargo ship to be hijacked in 200 years. Also stars: Barkhad Abdi, Barkhad Abdirahman. Rated PG-13.

CARRIE: A reimagining of the classic horror tale about Carrie White (Chloë Grace Moretz), a shy girl outcast by her peers and sheltered by her deeply religious mother (Julianne Moore), who unleashes telekinetic terror on her small town after being pushed too far at her senior prom. Also stars Gabriella Wilde. Rated R.

CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS 2: Flint Lockwood (the voice of Bill Hader) now works at The Live Corp Company for his idol Chester V (the voice of Will Forte). But he’s forced to leave his post when he learns that his most infamous machine is still operational and is churning out menacing food-animal hybrids. Also stars the voices of Anna Faris, James Caan, Neil Patrick Harris. Rated PG.

THE COUNSELOR: A lawyer finds himself in over his head when he gets involved in drug trafficking. Stars Michael Fassbender, Penélope Cruz, Cameron Diaz, Brad Pitt, Javier Bardem. Rated R.

ENDER’S GAME: The International Military seeks a leader who can save the human race from an alien attack. Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a brilliant young mind, is recruited and trained to lead his fellow soldiers into a battle that will determine the future of Earth. Also stars Harrison Ford, Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Breslin, Ben Kingsley, Viola Davis. Rated PG-13.

ENOUGH SAID: A divorced woman (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) decides to pursue the man she’s interested in (James Gandolfini), only to learn that he’s her new friend’s ex-husband. Also stars Catherine Keener, Toni Collette. Rated PG-13.

ESCAPE PLAN: When a structural-security authority finds himself set up and incarcerated in the world’s most secret and secure prison, he has to use his skills to escape with help from the inside. Stars Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, 50 Cent. Rated R.

FREE BIRDS: Two turkeys (the voices of Woody Harrelson, Owen Wilson) from opposite sides of the tracks must put aside their differences and team up to travel back in time to change the course of history — and get turkey off the holiday menu for good. Also stars the voices of Dan Fogler, Amy Poehler, George Takei. Rated PG.

GRAVITY: A medical engineer and an astronaut (George Clooney, Sandra Bullock) work together to survive after an accident leaves them adrift in space. Also stars Ed Harris. Rated PG-13.

LAST VEGAS: Three 60-something friends (Robert De Niro, Kevin Kline, Morgan Freeman) take a break from their day-to-day lives to throw a bachelor party in Las Vegas for their last remaining single pal (Michael Douglas). Also stars Mary Steenburgen. Rated PG-13.

MUSCLE SHOALS: A documentary that celebrates Rick Hall, the founder of FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Ala., and the signature sound he developed in songs such as “I’ll Take You There,” “Brown Sugar,” and “When a Man Loves a Woman.” Features Aretha Franklin, Keith Richards, Bono, Jimmy Cliff, Gregg Allman, Mick Jagger, Alicia Keys. Rated PG.

WADJDA: An enterprising Saudi girl (Waad Mohammed) signs up for her school’s Koran recitation competition as a way to raise the remaining funds she needs in order to buy a green bicycle she has her eye on. Also stars Reem Abdullah, Abdullrahman Al Gohani. Rated PG.
