Steve Pfarrer’s Best Bets
IN SEARCH OF SALINGER
It seems fitting that the making of a documentary on J.D. Salinger has been as secretive as the late author himself. Some details of “Salinger,” which opens Friday at the Amherst Cinema, have slowly leaked out in recent weeks, but the full story of the author of the seminal novel “The Catcher in the Rye” is only being revealed now. The documentary is based in part on interviews with more than 100 people, including members of Salinger’s inner circle of friends. www.amherstcinema.org.
ANOTHER GOOD BET
Here’s another option for Amherst this weekend: stop by Kendrick Park on Saturday at 7 p.m., where “A Night of Wonder,” a multidisciplinary festival designed to re-create the spirit of an early-20th century carnival, will offer dance, poetry readings, film screenings, live music and more. www.anightofwonder.com
