Suzanne Wilson’s best bets
There in the fine print in Tuesday’s list of this year’s Pulitzer Prize winners and finalists in The New York Times was this note under Poetry: “Finalist: Jack Gilbert, ‘Collected Poems.’” Gilbert, who died last year, was a former Northampton resident whose wrote starkly personal poems of love, loss and place. He’d never sought fame, a fellow poet once said, and always encouraged others to “write about the big subjects in your life.”

“Direction: Home,” printmaking, collage, and mixed media sculpture at the Oxbow Gallery in Northampton, showcases the work of B.Z.
