Valley Readings

The following author appearances, readings and book events are planned for the coming week in the Valley:

GREENFIELD COMMUNITY COLLEGE: Lucy Anne Hurston, author of “Speak, So You Can Speak Again: The Life of Zora Neale Hurston,” reads Wednesday at noon, Stinchfield Lecture Hall at the college.

HAYMARKET CAFE: Chris Gonzalez recites Alan Ginsberg’s poem “Howl” from memory Sunday, 8 p.m., at the cafe, 185 Main St., Northampton. Bring a nonperishable food item for the Northampton Survival Center.

MOUNT HOLYOKE COLLEGE: Eric Toensmeier, author of “Paradise Lot: Two Plant Geeks, One-Tenth of an Acre, and the Making of an Edible Garden Oasis in the City,” speaks Wednesday, 7 p.m., Gamble Auditorium, Mount Holyoke College Museum of Art at the college in South Hadley. Free.

SMITH COLLEGE: The Five College Poetry Fest is Thursday, 7:30 p.m., Neilson Library Browsing Room at the college in Northampton.

UNIVERSITY OF MASSACHUSETTS: Clark Coolidge speaks Thursday, 8 p.m., Memorial Hall, at the university in Amherst. Part of the Visiting Writers Series.
