Set for two performances this weekend by Da Camera Singers— Friday at 8 p.m. in Raymond Concert Hall at the Northfield Mount Hermon School in Gill and Sunday at 3 p.m. in Amherst College’s Buckley Recital Hall — “Fate: Music of Brahms, Debussy & Sawyer” will feature the premiere of “Anterooms,” a setting by Amherst composer Eric Sawyer of six poems by Richard Wilbur. The work is the fifth piece commissioned by Da Camera as part of its five-year project to add to the body of choral music by local composers. Also on the program: Johannes Brahms’ settings of two poems about fate, “Gesang der Parzen” (“Songs of Fate”) by Goethe and “Schicksalslied” (“Song of Destiny”) by Friedrich Hilderlin, and Claude Debussy’s “Trois Chansons,” settings of verse by the French Medieval poet Charles d’Orleans.
The singers will be joined by guest performers Liz Chang, violin, and Marianne Lockwood, piano. Admission is free; donations are welcome. www.facebook.com/DaCameraSingers
